sometimes i come across pictures and can't believe that places like this actually exist that i don't know about. not because i'm some sort of worldly traveler, but just because they seem so amazing, you know? i think i should have learned about them, like mount everest or niagara falls. (incidentally, i think the same thing whenever i see a picture of an animal that i didn't know existed - am i the only one who has that experience?)

tangentially, i refer to the place pictured above: plitvice lakes in croatia, sixteen lakes in two clusters connected by hundreds of waterfalls. gorgeous with a capital g.
